Opening Hours:

At City Chiropractic our key aim is to find the root cause of your problem and help you to manage and deal with it as quickly as possible, while helping you to deal with the day to day stresses of life that may be aggravating your issue.

What to expect on your first chiropractic visit

Initial Consultation

In order to get to the root cause of your problem/pain, we will first ask you to complete a confidential medical history which will ask about your general health, surgery history, underlying conditions and accidents you have had.  We will then discuss your health and issues with you and what you hope to get from your treatment.

We will ask you to change into a modesty gown (you are free to bring shorts if you feel more comfortable in them) and we will use a range of Orthopaedic, Neurological and Chiropractic tests to assess your movement, posture, joints and muscles. We may also assess your blood pressure, heart, lungs, eyes and ears if deemed necessary. If we identify anything that we think your GP should check, we will advise you of this and may write to your GP (with your permission) to inform them of our findings.

Discussion of findings

At this point we will explain what your issues are how we think we can help (if we can help).  We will also advise on how long it will take for you to see results. Generally the longer you have had a problem, the longer it will take to settle down, but as we assess and advise after every treatment, this is always only an estimate.

If we have advised you that Chiropractic Care could help you, with your consent, we will start treatment.  As each treatment session is bespoke for each patient, this can include Acupuncture, Western Medical Acupuncture, Massage, Ultrasound, Interferential (muscle stimulation), Chiropractic adjustment and exercise advice. You will then be advised if you need to come back and when to optimise the benefit of your treatment.

Western/Medical Acupuncture

Western medical acupunture is principally used by conventional healthcare practitioners and diagnosis is made by conventional medical methods. It acts mainly by stimulating the nervous system and is mainly used to treat musculoskeletal pain, including myofascial trigger point pain. It may also be effective for postoperative pain, nausea and some other conditions. Read more here...
